Fabric Overview:

Come rain or shine–softshell fabrics!

No matter what the weather brings, be ready with these trendy, practical softshell fabrics. This two-layer nano-softshell fabric uses a nano layer technology protects against wind and rain, while remaining highly breathable. Just in time for the Swafing In-House Exhibition, we are pleased to offer Nano-Softshell featuring shiny foil prints, snuggly plush reverse, light reflecting safety fabrics and even colour-changing fabrics.  Please note that our softshell fabrics and viscose print “Kai” are available in limited quantities. Only while supplies last!

“Lucky” – Foil Print Nano-Softshell
“Lucky” is a soft and supple lightweight nano-softshell featuring a luxurious foil print on one side a cuddly, cozy plush reverse. There’s no need for lining fabrics, so stitch up new transitional pieces lickety split! “Lucky” features lucky shamrocks in gold on a khaki background or fantastical rainbow unicorns on a dark blue background.

Pattern: from the Book „Nähen mit Jersey – Kinderleicht!“ by Pauline Dohmen / Klimperklein Size 122. With knit ribbing Heike-melange Col. 1769

“Lou” – reflective safety Nano-Softshell
Safety first! This reflective softshell fabric allows the wearer to be better seen in a car’s headlights. Just perfect for walking to school or riding your bike in the early morning or late evening, when winter days are shorter, “Lou’s” trendy geometric design will get you noticed no matter the time of day! “Lou” features a cozy plush reverse.

“Loris” – Colour-changing Nano-Softshell
Rain, rain, go away? Come again another day? Why that? This fascinating fabric actually changes colours when wet, so let it rain! Like magic, unicorns and rainbows shimmer in the prettiest pastel colours against a dusty rose background and dinosaurs turn bright green against a dark blue background. Once dry, the colours disappear from the surface “Loris” until the next rainy day. “Loris” features a plush reverse.

Pattern from the book „Nähen mit Jersey – Kinderleicht!“ by Pauline Dohmen / Klimperklein. Size 110. With knit ribbing Heike in Col. 597

“Ponderó” reflective heathered NANO Softshell – Consider this!

“Ponderar” means to “consider” or “reflect” in Spanish. “Ponderó” softshell pieces are perfect for keeping kids warm, dry, and safer as the reflective print adds a bit of highly visible brightness on darker days. When bright light is not shining directly on the material, the print appears matt silver-grey. Choose from pretty hearts on pink, dinosaurs on dark blue or rainbow-coloured raindrops on dark grey, each with a matching thermal fleece reverse.

New at Swafing: Sandra Kretzmann

We are so pleased to welcome Sandra Kretzmann to the Swafing family! This fabric collection is not only for the youngest princesses among us: the rainbow and unicorn designs work well for older kids and teens as well. Choose from blue grey, pink or dark blue, each of which mixes and matches perfectly with an almost selection of Swafing Basics.

Stylish designer fabrics with that certain something

“Attitude” & “Squares” by Lila-Lotta

We are very happy to welcome Lila-Lotta back! After a creative break, designer Sandra Prüßmeier is making her comeback with two very special fabrics! Jackets, sweatshirts, trousers, jogging pants, leggings…When the weather turns gray outside, that is when you will be happy to cuddle up in colorful fabrics!

“Squares” is a French terry in a simple checkerboard design using the season’s trendiest tones. The approximately 3 cm large squares are dark blue, royal blue, turquoise, ochre gold and coral pink and are perfectly colour-matched to Swafing’s many Basic fabrics.

Lila-Lotta: Addalinchen / echt Knorke, Size 36.

Lila-Lotta: Pattern Embla / JuniDesign (left) and Pullover No. 16 / JuniDesign (right). Size 38. With knit ribbing Heike in Col. 598.

The addition of Modal to the “Attitude” French terry creates a lovely drape and hand and is just a pleasure to wear. This large scale print with a nod to the Memphis School is an absolute eye-catcher. No matter how you place your pattern pieces, you are sure to create a one-of-a-kind design. Create your newest favorite sweatshirt, hoodie, or loungewear pieces with just the right amount of “Attitude.”

“Decode” by Bienvenido Colorido

Nelli Simböck decodes the latest fashion trends for autumn and winter: This pixelated border print is really something very special. The design extends over the entire width of the 150 cm fabric and the image gradually dissolves from one edge to the other.

The abstract floral design is optically divided by an overlying grid pattern and the underlying design can thus only be recognized from a distance. This supple modal French terry is ideal for fall and winter sweaters, dresses, pants, skirts, jackets and so much more. “Decode” is available in three colourways: dark blue, terracotta and anthracite grey. “Decode” is perfectly colour-matched to dozens of Swafing Basic fabrics.

“Diagonally” by Lycklig Design

Stripes are and will remain the evergreens of patterns. Hardly any other pattern can be combined in such a variety of different ways. Stripes can be sporty, classic and casual–always an excellent all-rounder.

Designer Berit Winter gives new life to classic stripes by turning them 45º and combining them in the latest fall colours. Printed on French terry, these diagonal stripes are modern and retro in equal measure. Choose from light blue / blue, golden yellow / mint, golden yellow / dusty rose and berry red / ocher.

Welcome little One – a complete nursery set for baby

The start of a new life is a reason to celebrate. The birth of a child is a such a special and unique experience, filled with hope and preparation. “Welcome Little One” is a sweet cut-and-sew panel with fluffy clouds, happy sheep and smiling moons to create a wonderful little world for baby.

One panel is designed to create one 1mx1m floor blanket, a pretty pennant garland, a cloud pillow or burp cloth, a play cube and a simple binky cord. “Welcome Little One” is printed on 100% cotton poplin in either cool grey, mint green and beige pastels or warmer pastel corals and blue hues.

A floor blanket is the centerpiece of this project panel. No need to cut individual squares and lay them out–just add batting and a backing, and stitch along the edges of the squares to make a faux patchwork quilt in no time at all.

We recommend using batting Mander 300 and cotton wovens like Heide or Türkfeld (we used Col. Grey 183 and light blue 252).

Left: Mickey / Lin-Kim, Size 56. Sewn with Vanessa FS21 Col. 635 and Heike Col. 011. Plott: Lycklig Design.

Of course, we’ll have a complete set of instructions to make this project easy even for the beginning sewist. This nursery set makes a wonderful shower gift, or can be used as a beginning sewing workshop project. If you have a somewhat older child that you can trust in front of the sewing machine, this panel project is a perfect opportunity to allow him the chance to help make something special for his new baby brother or sister.

“Beanie Party” from Cherry Picking–Beanie DIY Set

Hats off to Anke! Or rather, on! Anke of Cherry Picking is well-known for her innovative panel ideas. Following in the wake of her very popular “Beauty Kit” and “Carry Bags,” Cherry Picking gives us an absolute must-have at the virtual In-House Exhibition! Sew up several new easy beanies from this single panel.
From “Beanie Party” printed on cuddly modal French terry, you can create up to six trendy beanies. The panels present three different variations:

  • Stitch up a super simple beanie without a brim, with or without a lining
  • Sew your beanie with turn-up brim and a jersey lining
  • Or make a fully reversible beanie made using two panel cuts!

Anke chose three of her most fashion-forward fabric designs including leopard print, stripes, black & white brush strokes and a faux chunky knitted look to make the beanies. And then she added a bunch of cool patches to add a special touch here and there.

The beanie party panel based on the tried-and-true pattern from Ki-ba-doo is suitable for many head sizes. Please be sure to read the instructions before starting. Everything to is described in detail there.

“Beanie Party” is ideal for beginning sewists, to use in sewing courses and to pack into DIY kits! The link to the sewing instructions is printed directly on the panel. Go ahead and check out the instructions in the promotional images.

Modal French terry panel measures approx. 125 cm high. Fabric width approx. 150cm. We recommend using Vliesofix fusible interfacing for stabilizing the material in order to appliqué the patches and knit jersey “Vanessa” to use as a lining material.

Pre-order at the virtual In-House Exhibition until August 30th. We expect delivery in November.
